Boston Weekend Preview: The Vampires & Hurricanes Edition
I finally managed to get addicted to True Blood a few weeks ago. I'm not sure why it took me so long to get into the world's most gay friendly monsters, but now that I have, there's no turning back. That said, Boston has an eerie collection of vampire-themed events this weekend and plenty of other things (like a hurricane) to get excited about. Despite the weather forecast and vampire presence, this weekend definitely won't suck. Events | The New Gay

Leah and I got up really early to watch the balloons launch at the 3rd annual Susquehanna Balloon Festival in Oneonta. Wind prevented a launch, and only one balloon was inflated, but they were offering free tethered rides to anyone who wanted one. So at 6:30 in the morning, we got to rise up a bit above Neahwa Park as the sun rose over the horizon. It was a wonderful experience, and well worth getting up early.

08.31.2010 - Road Trip: Chicken-Fried State Didn’t quite make that goal to fit into that tiny swimsuit by Labor Day? Then why not just forget the pool this weekend and make a pilgrimage to taste a bit of Texas legend: Chicken-Fried Steak from Mary’s in Strawn, Texas.
We first read about this tiny café in The Dallas Morning News two years ago and it was always on our short-list of places to try. But we never seemed to have the true desire time to drive two hours out of town to grab a bite to eat. So we had to make time. And boy-oh-boy are we glad we did.
08.26.2010 - Twelve Inches of Happiness Let’s be honest. We’re not always the biggest fans of franchises, especially when it comes to restaurants. We prefer to patronize mom-and-mom and pop-and-pop businesses that have personality and distinctive service, as evidenced by our recent Gay List Deals launch.
Well, that concept was shattered the moment we walked into the new Subway on the Cedar Springs strip a couple months ago. It smelled like a Subway (the fresh bread gets us every time), tasted like Subway, but doesn’t look like a normal Subway.
08.25.2010 - August Mixer Tonight @ The Brick Our always fabulous monthly mixer is tonight! What better way to celebrate the end of the recent oppressive summer weeks than with hot go-go boys at The Brick?!
We're returning to one of our favorite haunts, The Brick & Joe's over on Wycliff, tonight 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
08.24.2010 - A Gay Man Walks Into A Bar Sometimes, technology makes ordinary tasks more difficult than they were the “old fashioned” way. Take our all-time favorite useless products: The EZ Cracker; a $150 paper towel dispenser; or, because who hasn’t gotten exhausted rolling meatballs, this thing.
Yet sometimes, something comes along that truly makes life easier. That’s where the new Tabbed Out app comes in. It’s a drunk’s cocktail enthusiast’s dream come true.

08.17.2010 - How Low Can You Go? Coupons are sooo in vogue now. We’ve even started carrying our own designer coupon caddy into Kroger to make the whole event of saving 50 cents on Spam that much more sophisticated and classy. Yet that’s not enough for our bargain hunger.
So we’ve worked our magic with local businesses to bring you the best deals around in a brand new service called Gay List Deals. You’ve seen the other daily coupon offers and we love them too, but ours are a little different.
