Suspects in 36-yr old WeHo murder brought to trial By WeHo News Staff, West Hollywood, California (March 15, 2009) Two suspects in a 36-yr murder West Hollywood murder that became an international cause c?l?bre will finally face trial in a Los Angeles County courthouse, decreed a judge last month. On April 15, 1974, John Threlkeld and Leonard Turner and one other unidentified man allegedly went to rob socialite Patricia Galea's apartment while she and her friends were away, but things went awry and they allegedly killed Ms. Galea, seriously injuring five others.Although captured a short time later in Detroit, a SNAFU let them back onto the streets to commit more crimes, including manslaughter, in the 36 years since then.

Cops nab fourth and final pot club killer By WeHo News Staff, West Hollywood, California (March 15, 2009) Los Angeles Police Department's Wilshire Division detectives announced arresting the fourth, and last at large, suspect in October, 2008's killing of security guard Noe Gonzalez during a robbery at La Brea Collective, 812 S. La Brea Ave. on October 1, 2008.They report apprehending Brandon Daniels, 27, on tips that he stayed at a friend's home, where he had been in hiding in Inglewood.

WeHo's ban on retail sale of "puppy mill" animals effective Friday By WeHo News Staff, West Hollywood, California (March 15, 2009) West Hollywood's pioneering ban on the retail sale of puppy mill and kitty factory animals in pet, or in WeHo lingo, companion animal, stores, goes into effect this Friday, March 19, 2010. The ordinance is only the second of its kind enacted, although it will be the first to go into effect.South Lake Tahoe's passed a similar ordinance in 2009 but will not go into effect until later this year.

HAAS-TA LA VISTA: Bothered and bewildered, but not really bewitched Op-ed By Werner Haas, West Hollywood, California (March 15, 2009) I am at an age where I have outlived every one of my biological family and many of my friends, however, as I indicated last week, I now tend to reminisce far more than I used to, remembering what to me are still good old days. There are things and people I miss- for no special reason. For example, I went to Northwestern with Jerry Orbach and while many people forget that he was a good singer, people recall him best for playing Detective Lenny Briscoe on years of Law and Order episodes.
