He later resigned from the senate to work for the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation, which has been instrumental in enacting the state's universal healthcare program. His involvement with GLAAD has contributed to the prevention of homophobia/discrimination in national media.

Sentencing for Wehoans guilty in film festival bribery postponed By WeHo News Staff, West Hollywood, California (May 3, 2009) A judge postponed sentencing the West Hollywood husband and wife convicted of bribing Thai officials in connection with the Bangkok International Film Festival.A jury convicted Gerald Green, 78, and Patricia Green, 55, in September, 2009, of multiple counts of conspiracy, violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and money laundering. U.S. District Judge George H. Wu delayed sentencing until June 3 to investigate Gerald Green\'s emphysema and determine how a ten year federal prison sentence might affect his health.
