The Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act, GENDA for short, is a bill pending in New York State legislature that aims to strengthen the state's Human Rights Law by banning discrimination based on gender identity and expression. The Empire State Pride Agenda believes that the bill could be passed by this winter based upon last year's vote count. So far, 29 Senators have said they would vote "yes" on GENDA. Still, more support is needed. For this reason, they are calling for citizens to pressure GENDA's lead sponsor, Senator Duane, who has not yet publicized his plans for passing the bill. To contact Senator Duane and get involved call 212-633-8052 or e-mail.
