About SETAC
Solidarity Ed Thomas A.C. (SETAC) was founded in November 2009 to unite the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender community (GLBT) in Puerto Vallarta, with the main purpose in aiding people at risk in our community. ¨At Risk¨ means that a person GLBT is facing any type of danger that may put his/her life or integrity of such person.

Puerto Vallarta is a unique and special place for many people, especially for those who are discriminated against and rejected in the whole country for their sexual orientation and for those who seek the opportunity to live openly in an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding. Puerto Vallarta has hosted this community for many years, and it was for this reason that the need arose for the creation of the first (GLBT) Community Center in all of Mexico, here in Puerto Vallarta.

Many young arrive unprepared, trying to find a job or a productive activity and, in addition to the ignorance, stigma, and discrimination, they are subject to harassment, making their survival even more difficult, so youth in particular are more vulnerable to engaging in activities such as drinking, alcoholism, drug use, and prostitution which for them are the only ways to survive; putting them at risk of sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV.

SETAC was formed primarily to support these people.
